The sandbags for ankle weights are removable. Each weight comes with 5 removable sandbags which weighs 1 LB. So the weight for each ankle can add or reduce sandbags from 1-5 LBS depending on your level of fitness, one pair weights can be adjusted from 2-10LBS. If the whole weights is too heavy for you, you can reduce one or two sandbags out of the pockets.
